Geez I can’t believe it’s been so long since I posted! I’ve been busy taking a class on preparing taxes (even though I’m a CPA – company policy!)…I won’t bore you with the details. My grandmother had a quintuple bypass (open heart surgery) a week ago and is still in the hospital. I was fortunate to be able to use a buddy pass from my inlaws to fly home to Mississippi to see her for a few days. And in 6 hours I start a two day long “Policies and Procedures” class for the tax company.
I have a baby clothes quilt in the works – here is the mockup:
And I’ve also been cranking out some of Anna’s gathered clutches for Christmas presents! I so love her pattern.
What have you been up to?
Just a quick post to show you the finished baby clothes quilt I delivered Saturday! [Click on the pictures for a larger image.]
The little boy’s name is Brayden Saylor, which I put on the back. I used Elizabeth Hartman’s instructions for making the letters.
Click “keep reading” to see close-ups of the individual blocks. I’m linking up to Made by You Monday!
Here are the individual blocks:
This view almost makes binding enjoyable! Almost.
I’ve decided to start making lists for WIP Wednesday like some other people do. (And please forgive the iPhone pictures in this post!)
In Progress This Week
- Brayden’s baby clothes quilt – I’m delivering this on Saturday and I know Sarah (Brayden’s mom) has seen my blog before, so I don’t want to spoil the surprise. I will share the two “sneak peeks” I sent her yesterday:
- Mystery Quilt at Quilters Club of America – Directions are posted every Friday. Here are my fabric groupings:

Completed Projects Ready for Binding
My MIL Carole asked me to participate in a mystery quilt that is just starting on the Quilters Club of America website. You have to join to view the details, but it’s free to join. Carole’s sister Kathy is also going to join us in making this quilt!
I’m making a lap quilt version, so I had to pick 18 jelly roll strips and pick a background color that contrasts all of them. I chose white as my background and I’m using these fabrics:
Should be fun! Are you participating? Have you made a mystery quilt before?
Ok I know it’s no longer Wednesday, but it was my birthday so I’m allowed a pass, right?
I’m in the home stretch of Brayden’s baby clothes quilt and wanted to show you a (really) rough draft of the top (sorry for the cell phone picture):
And a few letters I pieced for the back, spelling out his name:
I plan to have this done by Monday night, so I’ll post the completed quilt then.
Thanks for stopping by!
For WIP Wednesday, I have my Summer Sampler Series blocks to show you – I finally got around to finishing up the last 2 blocks in the series! (I apologize for the iPhone pictures in this post – I’ve misplaced my camera cord.) Here are all 12 blocks with the sashing pinned up on my design wall.
Be sure to see what everyone else is up to over at Freshly Pieced!
Here are the rest of the quilt pictures I took at “Georgia Celebrates Quilts” in Marietta, GA. (Click on the links under the pictures to see a larger picture.)
I have a new commissioned quilt in the works! This will be similar in idea to my first commissioned quilt. The little boy’s name is Brayden and look at the cute clothes I get to work with!
I’ve also made a gathered clutch using Anna’s tutorial…I’m addicted to these little bags! This one is for my mother-in-law Carole. I used fabrics from her stash since she’s a quilter also!
I finally finished quilting and binding the little quilt I made for my 2 year old chocolate Lab Dixie! She’s giving me her best “would you stop taking pictures so I can go back to sleep?” look.
Here’s a shot of the front:
The pieced back:
For the quilting I did wavy lines through the brown strips using brown thread, then wavy lines through the middle of the pieced sections with variegated orange thread, to bring in the orange binding.
I’m entering this quilt in the Pets on Quilts Show!
