I finished my Windowpane quilt just under the wire to make the Bloggers’ Quilt Festival going on over at Amy’s Creative Side!
The weather here is nasty but I did get some pictures thanks to two local news people who were shooting on location at the park downtown. (The story? “The crappy weather” according to the news anchor. Slow news day!)
When I first posted about this quilt, Melinda at Tilda’s Twisted Life left me a comment suggesting I layout the small squares I made for the back similar to the Greenfield Hill quilt at Film in the Fridge. So that’s what I did (thanks Melinda!!)!
This was my first foray into free motion quilting! I did a simple back and forth swirl (for lack of a better word) in each of the 9-square blocks. On the binding, I used a decorative stitch on my machine:
I’ll be mailing this quilt to my little sister, Elizabeth.
I’ve decided to start making lists for WIP Wednesday like some other people do. (And please forgive the iPhone pictures in this post!)
In Progress This Week
- Brayden’s baby clothes quilt – I’m delivering this on Saturday and I know Sarah (Brayden’s mom) has seen my blog before, so I don’t want to spoil the surprise. I will share the two “sneak peeks” I sent her yesterday:
- Mystery Quilt at Quilters Club of America – Directions are posted every Friday. Here are my fabric groupings:

For WIP Wednesday, I have my windowpane quilt to show – this time it’s pieced and I’ve started playing with border ideas (as you can see on the left):
I’ve also started piecing squares for the backing – I’m still brainstorming on the pattern though.
Now the burning question: How should I quilt this? I’d love to hear any ideas you have!
Check out other people’s creations at one of these great sites!
