August do. Good Stitches – Hope Circle

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m in the Hope Circle of do. Good Stitches {A Charity Bee}. This month Natalie at Threaded Mess requested 2 blocks using Joseph’s Square in a Square Block designed by Anna Maria Horner. With the help of my mother-in-law Carole (also a quilter!), I mailed off these 5 blocks to Natalie today.

Natalie recently started the Rainbow I Spy Block Drive to collect blocks using this same pattern. She will use all the blocks she receives to make quilts which will be donated to the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children NICU. So if you have any cute novelty fabric and some free time, send her some blocks – or even one! You’ll find her address and all the details here.

One-Yard Wonders: Summer Nightie

For my next project from the One-Yard Wonders Sew Along over at Pink Chalk Studio, I made the Summer Nightie designed by Rae Hoekstra.

The fabric on the cup area is High Society – Victoria by Anthology Fabrics. The bottom is some random fabric I’ve had forever, and I made the bias tape out of some pink satin-y looking fabric my grandmother gave me a while back. I also lined the cups with this pink fabric.

Summer Sampler, DWR and 2 Bags

I finished 3 more blocks from the Summer Sampler Series, so here are the 9 blocks together – 3 more to go!

I am way behind on the Double Wedding Ring Quilt Along hosted by Kaelin at The Plaid Scottie, but I do have some arcs completed.

I also have two bags to show you. The black and red one is for my UGA alum husband, who drives a red car with black racing stripes, and the blue one is for my mom (part of her birthday present). I used this tutorial for the blue bag.

The other part of my mom’s birthday present is a quilted version of her company’s logo, to be framed and hung in her office.

I basically just printed the logo onto foundation piecing paper, and pieced it that way.  Not too bad if I do say so myself!

Dixie’s Quilt – Finished!

I finally finished quilting and binding the little quilt I made for my 2 year old chocolate Lab Dixie! She’s giving me her best “would you stop taking pictures so I can go back to sleep?” look.

Here’s a shot of the front:

For the quilting I did wavy lines through the brown strips using brown thread, then wavy lines through the middle of the pieced sections with variegated orange thread, to bring in the orange binding.

I’m entering this quilt in the Pets on Quilts Show!
